Do you document your family stories? My daughter recently said to me, “I don’t remember how I was when I was young. And instantly I pulled out a bunch of her baby photos and videos showing her growing years. And watched her sweet face light up.
Many of us will forget those growing years. And that’s where I come in as a keeper of memories for my family. When you document your family stories, you create a time warp going back in time to those childhood growing years. You know, those moments that come unexpectedly, i you missed it, it’s gone forever. I have them on videos. We forget those memories so easily because they don’t last long enough for us to remember.
What if you have captured them in your phone or laptop? Imagine watching these little faces and characters unfold and grow from the comfort of our home into amazing young teens. I’ve always wanted to pass down these treasured moments to my children.
In this post, I’ll share the two ways you can document your family stories for the future.
Take Time to Document your Family Stories
I love telling family stories to my children. Of how they were when they were young. Why? Because in that moment, you savor time together especially in a world full of uncertainties and chaos. Imagine watching a family video in the comfort of your home where you have the support of a shared interest.
I’m sure you too have gathered many gorgeous photos and videos on your mobile. Remember how tedious it can be to constantly scroll all the way down—searching for a particular photo. I’ve done that many times before too. Here’s how you can document your family memories.

Capturing Family Life in Photos and Video
There are two ways you can make use of these memories but firstly you must sort them for easy access.

1. Use those photos to create a photobook or like in the old days, we use photo albums. But use them to create milestone birthdays, 21st Birthdays, graduation or a family history book. Stories that take you back in time to your memories.
The possibilities are endless and I’ll share more in other post what I’m working on for my own family.
There are many places that you can use to create family photobook. And I’ll share them in my future posts.
2. Create photo slideshow videos and transfer them onto a hard drive where you can watch on TV anytime. You can use a DVD player or a UBS slot on your TV.
While photos captures a moment, videos can show you a memory long forgotten in a scene. Memories shows our confidence, we see how strong we were in the past so we can continue in the future.
When life takes us down the rabbit holes, we often find ways to stay grounded to what we already know. And these memories gives us that solid foundation.
Accessing Your Photos and Videos Easily
You must have your memories both photos and videos sorted in order so you can find them anytime. Whether you choose to do it all yourself or hire a professional, you have to be organised first. Constant editing of videos and removing photos are time waster and that can cost you heaps.
While we often want to do things our way, software process formatting files takes time. Many people tell me AI is instant. Artificial intelligence or AI is as good as the person programming it. Do make sure you know what you want to include in your photobook and slideshow video. Plan ahead because it does take time.
